Flats!

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Hey girls! Trying to find the best fit for you for your prom shoe? Look no further and pick up a pair of classy flats. Flats are the most popular style right now! Not only will you be in with the hottest fashion trends but there are several other benefits. First off, you won’t have to worry about being too tall for your date… pictures will look awesome!

You don’t need to stress about your shoes being too tall for your dress either because you will be your original height.

Most importantly flats are super comfortable! You won’t have to take your shoes off the whole night so you will stay beautiful without taking away from your look.

Flats helped me out a lot for my prom. In February I was in a really bad car accident where I broke my leg. The doctors needed to put a titanium rod in my leg and a pin in my foot and I wasn’t sure if I was even going to be well enough for my prom in May. Luckily my leg started healing quickly… as the months came closer to prom I bought my dress then started searching for some dressy shoes that wouldn’t interfere in my surgery. I definitely didn’t want to have to end up wearing flip flops on my big day. Promshoe.com gave me so many different flats to choose from. By the time prom came around, I was confident that my outfit would pull together now that I found my perfect shoes. My flats were so comfortable that I didn’t take them off once that night! They were great… And because flats are so versatile, I still wear them today with my everyday outfits.

Just as they were for me, flats may just be the perfect style and fit for you… whether it be your special prom night or just a fun day out with the girls.  Celebrities like Paris Hilton and Taylor Swift are huge fans of this trend!

What to do with last years prom dress

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Hi everyone! Thought I would share a cool site with you. I was cleaning out my closet and found my prom dress from last year. I was going to bring it to goodwill, but my friend told me about www.donatemydress.org. You can go to their site and find dress donation charities in your area to give your prom dress to. They even take bridesmaid dresses! I found a place near me to drop my dress off at and help out a great cause. If you have any old prom dresses that you will never wear again, you might want to check it out! -Louisa

DYEABLE PROM SHOES – COLOR

For prom dresses in unique colors, you may want to consider dyeing your prom shoes to match! At promshoe.com, we offer custom dyeing! If you send us a piece of your dress (a hanger strap or piece from where the dress is being hemmed) we will mix a color to match it! Our master dyer has been dyeing shoes for over 20 years and can match even the rarest of colors! HINT: After prom, we can dye your shoes black and you can wear them again!

2009 DYEABLE PROM SHOES – STYLE

Choose a prom shoe style that is comfortable and that you absolutely love. Here are a few things to consider:

Have a plain prom dress? You may want to dress up your prom dress by wearing shoes with some bling.

Is your date is the same height as you?  Choose a pair of flats!

Prom is on a boat or outside under a tent? Wedges work best to avoid getting your heels stuck in the grass!

2009 DYEABLE PROM SHOES – COMFORT

The key to prom shoe comfort is to select a heel height similar to what you normally wear…after all, that is what you are most comfortable in. Most prom gowns are floor-length and almost always completely cover the heel. Therefore, high heels are not a requirement. Choose a style that you can wear comfortably for the whole night, or consider basic flats if at any time you intend to “kick off” your prom shoes. You don’t want your prom dress to drag on the ground!

WHEN TO BUY MY PROM SHOES

You probably want to have your prom shoes with you at your first fitting. This will ensure that your shoe style suits your prom gown and will help keep alteration costs down by keeping the hemline consistent throughout the alteration process.

Tips on ordering from Promshoe.com

 Heel Heights

When you purchase pGRETABACKrom shoes with a 2 3/4 inch heel it actually measures closer to 3 inches. This is because the shoe industry measures shoe heel heights to the inside of the heel and not the back of the heel. When ordering prom shoes, a good rule of thumb is to add at least 1/2 inch to the listed heel height.

The size of your shoes will change your shoe’s heel height. As the size of your shoes get larger, the heel height will get proportionally higher to accommodate for the size difference. In other words, a size 11 shoe will have a higher heel height than the same shoe in a size 6.

PROM SHOES – WIDTHS & FIT

Promshoe.com offers a great selection of prom shoes, many of which are available in multiple widths as indicated in the chart below.

N or A A = NARROW WIDTH

M or B = MEDIUM WIDTH

W or D = WIDE WIDTH

WW or E E = EXTRA WIDE WIDTH
